Truth: Craigslist is not our friend.

Sadly, we are what we shall call: Craigslist impaired. Every time we choose to peruse about, there is nothing but terrible photos of even more terrible nonsense or fabulous items with atrocious price tags. We rack our brains for delightful keywords and usually come out empty-handed and Google Reader clogged. (Yes, you can RSS a Craigslist search. Yes, it is more time consuming than helpful.)

So here we are, Craiglist forelorn, and what do we do? We read blogs and see photos and hear stories of all the lovely loveliness that everyone else and their entire extended families have located on none other than...yes, Craigslist. Curses!

P.S. Why is the Craigslist web icon a purple peace sign? Anyone?

Regardless, we have finally made amends with Craigslist. Our months of fruitless searches have ultimately left us with these:




Nikon, the resident pooch, is not so sure however and still declares Craigslist a fiend.



These letters look quite suspicious it seems and she spends most of her days eyeballing them worriedly since they've arrived. Perhaps she is just disheartened that her favorite planty friend (pictured with said letters: Rodger) is being held hostage and is unavailable for the usual mischievous leaf sniffing and dirt rummaging.

It should be noted, that while Craigslist finally revealed it's silver lining it was not without a fight. Read: Drive. A dark, rainy, 3 hour one at that.

Oh & yes, all the letters came with their bright red faces! Call dibs!

We're here! Finally. After leaving NE 5/20 (with a camping pit stop over Memorial Day weekend!) we finally arrived in beautiful Petaluma 5/26. Exerted ourselves with hours of unloading which led to hours of unpacking ... which led us to now: our first weekend in CA!

We made sure to grab a polaroid in each state as we passed through:


(1. Hot Springs, SD ; 2. Middle of nowhere, WY ; 3. Salt Flats, UT ; 4. Middle of nowhere, NV)

We're excited to shop the Petaluma Farmer's Market tomorrow & head over to the San Mateo Maker Faire (thanks to sfgirlbybay!) for a look-see Saturday.

So, there is this little antique place that's been closed since we've been out here with a hopeful sign that read "Re-opening for close-out sale in May". No dates, no phone numbers, nothing. Blah! We just so happened to pass by 3 days before the move & what? They're open!

What we were really hoping for wasn't even in the store...we were lusting for their monstrous flashing marquee arrow sign out front. Mr. shop man thought it over for a bit and threw out $50. $50? YES PLEASE!

Then comes the realization that we're driving a Mini Cooper and the sign measures almost 4' x 3'....


After some stealthy maneuvering, we successfully stashed the sign and some other finds miraculously inside! On that note: we'll be taking a bunch of middle-of-nowhere Midwest treasures with us to CA for the Etsy shop. But eat your hearts out, because the arrow is the greatest addition to the new loft. :)

Thanks to the new Etsy API & Developers Community, we've developed our own Etsy color search application. "We", ha! Well, the smartie webman half of 26 Olive Street, Alex did. :)
